When you have the technical expertise for a project, but not the bandwidth, what do you do? Looking to help its business leads improve teamwork and services within a new health and care landscape, the Leeds Office of NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB in Leeds) approached us just before Christmas 2022 to create an OD and workshop toolkit for managers and teams.
Tasked with delivering this project during January 2023 and with many other tasks to juggle, Suzanne Saleh, the Senior Organisational Development Manager for ICB in Leeds, reached out for extra resource to create a quality deck that would be well received and easily implemented by NHS leaders.
What we did
This pack of resources required both OD and communications expertise to get right. It included activities and tools to help support team growth, development, and effective planning of future services.
The Wordsmiths team enlisted help from an OD specialist to check all content before it was carefully copywritten and designed to the client’s brand guidelines.
“This pack was delivered less than three months ago, and already we use it every day. Wordsmiths were always on time, sometimes before the due dates we had agreed, and delivered a great quality piece of work.”
The outcome
We turned the project around in six weeks, thanks to an associate Wordsmith picking up the reins across the Christmas period and Suzanne providing timely feedback on drafts. We delivered an accessible 100-page PowerPoint deck, with exercises including ice breakers and discussion generators, in addition to top tips for facilitators.
The toolkit is now being rolled out across the ICB in Leeds and is expected to be used by 21 business leads impacting on more than 350 staff.
