What does it take to transform a complex website into something truly intuitive, accessible and user-friendly?
In June 2025, digital agency Numiko brought us in to do exactly that for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). This was a large-scale project with a bold ambition: to make vital information clearer, accessible and user-friendly for a range of users, from veterinary professionals, vet employers, vet schools, to animal owners and students. Some of these audiences, the vet professionals and animal owners, might be in distress when seeking information.
Wordsmiths joined the project to provide copywriting support across a significant portion of the site. By the time our work wrapped in February 2026, we had delivered content for 170 web pages. It was a substantial undertaking that demanded precision, pace and a great deal of collaboration.
This was never a simple rewrite. Much of the original material existed as long, detailed documents designed for reference rather than web reading. In some cases, we condensed content from 12 web pages into one or transformed 30-page PDFs into just one or two structured webpages. The task wasn’t simply to shorten the content, but to reshape it for people scanning for clarity, not wanting to wade through complexity.
Numiko built an AI tool to simplify and rewrite some existing pages, which our team then edited from their first draft, to refine tone of voice and information structure. (AI might be able to produce content, but it has never lived and can’t put itself in the shoes of a distressed pet owner to figure out what information should come first). Content produced by the AI tool was carefully monitored, including fact-checking, to make sure it met quality standards.
With a team of five writers working on the project, we added a lead copywriter to ensure consistency with tone of voice and style guidelines. This was even more important as the pace of the project accelerated to ensure everything went live on time.
Shared documents and regular check-ins involving our team, digital agency Numiko and the end client tackled bottle-necks, answered queries and kept everything on track.
Together, through careful coordination and consistent communication, the website was live by the deadline. The blood, sweat and spreadsheets were all worth it! The client now has a site that feels lighter, more navigable and far more user-friendly, without losing depth or authority.
We’ve loved working with Numiko on such a forward-thinking, ambitious build, and exploring how AI and human expertise can complement one another when used thoughtfully.
“Working with Wordsmiths on this project was an absolute pleasure! They approached every challenge with rigour and enthusiasm, and their talent for solving complex content problems made for a genuinely rewarding collaboration. Their writing is exceptional, and their project management kept everything running seamlessly from start to finish. This project tackled some really intricate content, but it was a real joy to collaborate on it with Wordsmiths.” – Beth Masic, Project Manager at Numiko
