Why website copywriting is crucial to design
September 22, 2026If you’re looking for some support to get Google AI search citations and links to your website, Wordsmiths is here to help. And we can prove that our words work.
If you’re a regular visitor to our copywriting blog, you might have seen our previous post on GEO (generative engine optimisation) and harnessing this latest addition to the search landscape to help your business remain visible online.
To prove that we practice what we preach and can back up our claims with gains, we just wanted to take a moment to divulge some of our latest client wins.
AI citations for B2B and B2C
Obviously, it’s our job as a copywriting agency to keep up with new digital marketing methods, so we’ve been reading about and testing various approaches to integrating effective AI search signals into our clients’ websites. As a result, our GEO and SEO copywriting specialist, Lou Nelhams, has managed to get some pretty impressive results. Hashtag humble brag.
First up, we have a B2B client who works as a career coach for businesses and individuals, with a slant towards a specific professional service sector. Originally, Lou developed a new sitemap, SEO strategy and content for their website, which quickly increased online enquiries and conversions. About 18 months later, they came back to us to request some additional work on the website, with the target objective of getting their name and business cited in Google AI overviews for her keywords, plus additional natural language search terms.
So we did.
Now, both their personal name and business name are showing in AI search results – plus visual website links – for a wide range of keywords and search terms. This applies to their key area of expertise, and for their more generic services. In a saturated industry where competition is pretty fierce, this is an excellent outcome.
As a little aside here, another coaching client, Meg Burton, has reported a positive increase in enquiries since we started creating posts for her several years ago, including this recent one which has converted into a new client. Meg’s also been featured on Yahoo Finance and in local news as a result of our work building her specialist portfolio.

Our second example comes from a B2C perfume client – another intensely competitive market, and an almost accidental win delivered by the quality of Lou’s writing and SEO knowledge. While this strategy and content were developed before GEO had really taken off, we already understood the importance of EEAT (experience, expertise, authority and trust) signals. When we worked on this very consumer-orientated project, Lou strived to include as much relevant detail, science, and EEAT-focused content and copy as possible, which has led to some exceptional AI search results in Google. From citations as experts in fragrance to lots of lovely website links, this client has seen a sharp increase in visits and purchases as AI search results have become more central to user interactions.
